The Simple Pleasures
Updated: Feb 19
The simple pleasures that made my day. The smell of the espresso shot for my cappuccino,
the sweetness of the foamy warm milk
and how it is like velvet in my mouth.
The contrast and complement
of the cherry jam and the aged cheese
on my buttered crispy toast. A walk by the creek,
listening to the water run fast and loud in one spot
and quietly seemingly still in another.
It washes away my worries and frees my mind.
The sound of the trees swaying in the breeze
and the squeak they make when they touch each other.
It is like listening to a Gregorian chant in a cathedral.
Hearing my daughter say "goodnight mom I love you." That's the best part.
